Northern Star Quilter's Guild Show May3/4th

I've been away for too long, but trust me it's all good.  I've been busy doing a lot of work for an event that will take place later this year,  plus some other side projects which I will update you on shortly.

Last weekend I went to see the Somer's quilt show in New York.  I have been visiting this show for about 4-5 years now, and this year I decided to enter one of my quilts.  Ginger In The Sky is the name of the quilt,  which I named after my high strung dog.   It encompasses machine and hand quilting, and includes a 3-D effect with Stars (stuffed with polyfill).

As soon as I walked into the gymnasium of the JFK High School,  I saw my quilt hanging along the front area.  Perhaps the 9 rating (out of 10) for " Visual Impact" was the reason for this.  Design and Workmanship was also graded as part of the analysis.   Best Feature noted as "Wonderful celebratory quilt".     While I did not earn a ribbon , the written analysis received from the judges was positive, and will help me to understand what I need to improve in the future when entering quilt shows.  Overall ratings were good, but slight tension with my machine quilting that was indicated as "area to improve".
More updates to follow in another week.
